I have found inspiration for my work from the opera “Nozze istriane” by Antonio Smareglia from 1895. An implemented solution of work will become a part of permanent setup of the walking trail in Fažana. Studying the content of the opera, I decided to present the bench in two pieces which would thus represent the main characters of the opera – female figure Marussa and male figure Lorenzo and their tragic destiny.
The part of the bench that represents a female figure is made as a smooth surface with rounded angles that is emphasizing the tenderness and gentleness. The other part of the bench represents a male figure. Two parts of the bench aren’t merged, yet minimally separated because of disharmony and fraud by her father in their relationship and the fact that they never succeeded in the desire for absolute unity in their relationship.
